I'm officially making the announcement that the next comic I'll be rolling out will be:
Trick or Treat
(in honor of my favorite holiday season: Halloween)
I've been on a huge scary movie kick-absorbing as many ideas as I can. I've gone down the list of IMDB's 100 best Halloween movies and I think I've almost gotten through all of them.
What's your favorite scary movie?
Mine are The Shining, Pet Semetary, Monster Squad, Donnie Darko, Creepshow, Braindead, ok...i'll stop now. I love sci fi and scary.
I'm excited about this comic's story. I put out a quick photo manipulation cover last year around this time, and after a complete re-write, multiple drafts, and injecting hidden meanings, I'm finally ready to give it the green light! It is my take on the job of baby-sitter on Halloween who finds the night getting weirder as the hours approach midnight. I've made the effort to embellish the story and art with easter eggs and symbolism in the subtext and even the text. It will be like a Stephen King story mixed with the playfulness of Monster Squad. The script runs a bit long, so this might be a comic that ends up being black & white and broken into two parts.
In case you missed it, this was the cover I threw out last year...
the story has changed a lot since I made this, but the basic idea stayed the same.
Ooh, so excited! I remember seeing that cover (I think I used it for a caption, too, maybe?) and really looking forward to it... I enjoyed your other Halloween comic as well, but I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't this.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I love the idea of a woman being shrunken and treated like a baby! Especially when it's a babysitter!!
ReplyDeleteWhen is this comic going to come out?
ReplyDeleteDonnie Darko was disturbing, but I wouldn't classify it as a "scary" or "horror" movie per se - although it did take place during Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI'd put in most of John Carpenter's 80s productions including "The Thing" and "Prince of Darkness" - although I still haven't watched the original Halloween.
Original "Dawn of the Dead" for some real zombie action as well.
